ABOUT THIS TEST

What this quiz reveals

This quiz combines the Big Five, which describes personality across five continuous dimensions, with Attachment style for perspectives on close relationships. The result uses two characters: one from 32 everyday-profile types and one from four attachment-profile types. These character categories are the site's own design.

The Big Five uses continuous dimensions. This site chooses to display each dimension's score as a percentage, such as "Sociability 62%." This is the site's converted score, not a population percentile or a claim that 62% of your personality is extraverted. Character codes still group scores into higher and lower sides, so read the continuous scores too.

01 What Do the Five Traits Measure?

  • Imagination (Openness) — attraction to new ideas and imagination, or a preference for what can be checked directly
  • Planfulness (Conscientiousness) — a preference for planning ahead or deciding as things unfold
  • Sociability (Extraversion) — finding energy with other people or needing more time alone
  • Consideration (Agreeableness) — prioritizing harmony or standing by your own judgment
  • Emotional Sensitivity (Neuroticism) — patterns in responding to stimulation, criticism and pressure

The Big Five is a research framework for describing personality differences. This site's standard version uses five or six items per personality dimension, including reverse-scored items; the remaining questions concern relationship patterns. Drawing on a research framework does not establish the validity of this site's questions or translations.

02 Why Explore Your Hidden Side Too?

The Big Five alone cannot explain everything in romantic or family relationships. Someone outgoing may be especially sensitive to a partner's replies, while someone considerate may step back as closeness grows. These responses in close relationships can be partly explored through attachment patterns, but are not determined by attachment type alone.

The attachment profile groups anxiety and avoidance scores into four characters: secure, anxious, avoidant and fearful-avoidant. This is the site's simplified presentation, not a fixed identity or a medical diagnosis.

Across 42,256 quiz responses so far, attachment styles were 30.1% secure, 15.5% anxious, 13.7% avoidant and 40.6% fearful-avoidant.

How This Quiz Brings Different Perspectives Together

Understanding relationships means looking at personality and responses in close relationships together.

A personality quiz can offer clues about everyday tendencies. Difficulties in romance may also involve responses to people close to you. This site looks at these perspectives separately and then interprets them together. Combining two theories does not make relationships precisely predictable.

For Example: No Reply for Three Days

  • From a Personality Perspective You might describe yourself as cautious or prone to overthinking, but that alone doesn't explain every response.
  • From an Attachment Perspective You might notice anxiety, while still needing to consider the situation, expectations and relationship history.
  • Considering Both Perspectives Emotional sensitivity and fear of rejection may sometimes occur together, for example when you want to send a checking message before the restlessness has settled. This is an interpretation to compare with your experience, not a prediction that must come true.

This site's relationship index combines attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance, wanting care, wanting to give care and agency, with personality-related adjustments at a smaller weight. These weights are design choices made by this site, not established predictions of relationship success. In particular, sociability and openness are not graded as relationship strengths. Use the index to organize your answers and begin reflection, not as a ranking of romantic ability, a national percentile or a guarantee about future relationships.

The Big Five describes everyday personality differences, but responses in close relationships also need to be understood in context. Attachment tendencies offer another perspective. They need not be treated as a fixed identity; relationship experiences may be associated with change.

📖 About this page

1 Why the Big Five Is Widely Used in Personality Research

The Big Five describes personality differences across five continuous dimensions: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. It can represent degrees rather than only two categories. This site additionally groups higher and lower scores into characters, so read the continuous scores alongside the names. The character categories themselves are not a standard of Big Five research.

2 Exploring Your Outward and Hidden Sides Together

This quiz combines 32 Big Five character combinations with four attachment-profile characters. It offers two perspectives: everyday behavior and close relationships. Your responses at work and in intimate settings may differ, but these two score sets cannot explain all of your behavior.

3 Type Categories and Trait Scores: What's the Difference?

Dividing a continuous trait into two categories can make small differences near a boundary look larger than they are. Continuous Big Five scores retain degrees of difference. This site still groups scores for character matching, so if you are near a boundary, explore neighboring characters rather than defining yourself by one name.

4 32 Outward Character Types

This quiz divides each of five factors into a higher and a lower side, giving 2⁵ = 32 character combinations. These are not the 32 most common personalities in the population. Neighboring characters differ on one factor, so comparing them can illustrate how that factor may show up in daily life. The standard version takes about 5 minutes and needs no registration.

5 Why 40 Questions?

The standard version has 44 questions and takes about 5 minutes. There is also a 66-question detailed version and a 14-question short version. Different questions can produce different results. A higher item count does not itself establish the test's validity.

6 How Your Outward and Hidden Types Relate

Everyday personality and attachment patterns are calculated separately, so an outgoing profile can appear alongside a preference for distance in close relationships. These are two perspectives, not a prediction of how you must behave at work or in love, and not evidence of a personality disorder.

7 Key Differences Between the Big Five and MBTI

Type names can make a result approachable, while continuous scores retain differences of degree. Two people with the same character code may still have different factor scores. Read the five scores and character description alongside your own experience; this result does not replace an individual assessment of career, health or relationship needs.

8 How to Read Your Quiz Scores

This quiz converts your answers into trait scores. An extraversion score of 70 describes your position on this quiz's scale; it does not mean you are more extraverted than 70% of people. A score of 50 is the scale midpoint, not a population average. Higher and lower scores are not rankings of ability or worth. Both ends of a trait can bring strengths and challenges, depending on the situation.
